Medical Marketing Glossary

Medical Directory Listings

Medical directory listings are the profiles, citations, and locator entries that tell search engines and patients where a practice is, what it does, and how to contact it.

Directory listings include Google Business Profile, Healthgrades, Zocdoc, Vitals, Doximity, WebMD, Yelp, and similar local or specialty-specific properties. For medical practices, these listings are both trust signals and ranking inputs.

What matters is consistency. If the practice name, address, phone number, categories, physician roster, or service descriptions vary across major listings, local ranking strength weakens and patient trust erodes.

Legacy directory pages and old "list your business" URLs are usually better redirected to a glossary definition like this when the original content no longer exists. It preserves topical relevance without pretending an obsolete submission page is still live.
